![]() In my last Native/Diplomacy char, I had a bit over 1k renown and Hakim was giving me fiefs left and right, sometimes without even me asking. When everyone likes you (especially the King), it's easier to get what you want, although renown still plays an extremely important role. That last part is pretty important because when you do become a vassal, you'll need the support from other lords to be granted fiefs. You'll be able to fight their enemies, increase your renown and also your relations with them. A good way to do that is to take up a mercenary contract with the faction you like instead of becoming a lord directly. ![]() If you don't even have the renown necessary to swear an oath, I would suggest you instead to hone your skills and renown : first by destroying bandits (once your troops are good enough, even big bandit parties won't be that threatening, especially in Native) and then against lords. (that's what I did in my very first playthrough of this game : after something like 250 days, I only had two villages that were extremely far from each other, and both were permanently getting raided) You won't even get a fief right off the bat (you'll need more renown for this, except if you started as a noble, I think they always get a fief), and the one you'll eventually get will be a terribly shitty village that just got looted - which means 0 rent for two weeks, and after that it'll be something like 40 denars at first. Also, just a friendly tip : being a vassal isn't all that's cracked up to be especially early game. ![]()
